The Hyde Park Handmade Bazaar is this Sunday, July 24, at
The Promontory, 2nd floor, 5311 S. Lake Park West (behind Akira), from 11am-4pm. Indoors and air conditioned! Join RedAvaDesigns in the Promontory’s beautiful music venue for a gathering of some of the area’s best artisans and farmers, while listening to Hyde Park’s finest deejays spinning soulful soundtracks to your shopping. Admission is free, the bar is open, and brunch is being served downstairs, so make a day of it!
RedAvaDesigns will be back again with Coterie Chicago at the Pitchfork Music Festival, July 15-17 in Union Park, 1501 W. Randolph, Friday 3-10pm, Saturday & Sunday, 12-10pm. Coterie Chicago is an annual market that features a selection of artists, makers, and creative service providers during the three-day event.
RedAvaDesigns has two great events in June at opposite ends of the city!
This weekend, June 4 & 5, I’ll be at the Hyde Park Community Art Fair at Bixler Park, 57th Street and Kenwood, from 11am to 6pm, both days. Started in 1974, this is one of the oldest art fairs in the country and runs concurrently with the 57th Street Art Fair. There’s a large food court and food trucks nearby, music, and kids’ activities too.
Beginning on June 3, RedAvaDesigns will be have select pieces in the Evanston Made Pop Up Gallery and Store at the Evanston Art Center, 1717 Central Street, Evanston, IL. The event opens on June 3, from 5-9pm and runs until June 30. Regular hours are 11am-6pm. Hosted by the Evanston Art Center, the Pop-Up Gallery and Store features locally created wares in categories from ceramics to jewelry to housewares.
Victory Gardens Theater contacted me to provide jewelry for the promotional photography for their newest production, The House That Will Not Stand, set in 1836 New Orleans, and opening in June. I sat in on the photo shoot and took a few pics of my own. It was exciting to see the actors wearing my pieces! Can’t wait to see the photographer’s work.
RedAvaDesigns’ first outdoor event of 2016 is Handmade Chicago, this Saturday and Sunday, May 14-15, at Plumbers Hall, 1340 W. Washington. This juried festival features all original, handmade items including jewelry, art, soaps and body products, candles and home goods.
There will be live music by Cirrus Falcon, delicious food from Fresh & Fruity Concessions, Home Bakery, Dumpling House, The NutMan Company, and Tiki 2 Nite, and a youth art tent for children to create clay works of art.
Admission and parking are free and open to the public.
Mother’s Day is almost upon us! RedAvaDesigns will be at the 9th Annual Pre-Mother’s Day Fine Craft Fair. The event is held in the Independence Park Gymnasium, located at 3945 N. Springfield (Irving Park, just east of Pulaski), this Saturday, May 7, from 12 noon until 4pm.
The Fine Craft Fair will feature original, handmade-only craft items such as jewelry, textiles, glass, ceramics, pet products, apparel, and home accessories. Sponsored by the Greater Independence Park Neighborhood Association with free admission.
RedAvaDesigns has two springtime events this weekend!
Select RedAvaDesigns jewelry will be for sale beginning Thursday, April 7-Sunday, April 10, at the Evanston Art Center’s Spring Arts & Crafts Expo. This is the Art Center’s first-ever spring event. My Japanese Lantern Pendant is featured at the top right of the poster!

Regular Expo hours, April 8-10, 9am-4pm.
The EAC is located at 1712 Central Street, Evanston, IL.
On Saturday, I’ll be at the Handmade Market at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western, noon-4pm.

Thirty artists will offer handmade, unique craft and artisanal items for the perfect gift or gift to self. Featuring music mixed by DJ Scary Lady Sarah, craft beers, and cuisine by Maple Tree Inn.
All ages event: 17 & under, free.
$5 entry fee includes raffle tickets to win a swag bag of items from participating sellers. Proceeds benefit the Beverly Area Arts Alliance, which fosters collaboration between artists and the Beverly area community through arts-focused events and projects.
